kosmos FrontEnd for MS-Access This piece of software is the first of a series of products that are based entirely on the n-tier technology. One at least application server must be installed near the MS-Access™ database. The clients can be installed anywere the TCP/IP can connect them with the application server (LAN, WAN, WEB). The user can view and edit all the tables of the database. View also all the views of the database. A remote SQL executor can “run” any kind of SQL (views or DDL). The data can be viewed as searchable browsing forms or reports. The SQL can be saved as (*.SQL) text files and recalled later for execution. The editing of the database records supports fully foreign keys using searchable drop down lists on every foreign key field. For any information mail to supkosmos@kosmosbos.com. In the first window the user asked if he wants to create an application server or a client. Its obvious that first we create one (or more) server (application server or middle tier). We provide for this the database path and the TCP/IP port that the server communicate with. Then in one pass the server setup read in the database schema (tables, fields, indexes, foreign keys and views). For each table (type of record) a browsing and an edit form are build. The forms take special care of the foreign keys by providing one searchable drop down list. One menu ties all the forms together (this is the user interface menu). At the end two users are added. The first is the user "admin" with a blank password (initially). The second user is the "csetup" (with password "csetup" also). Do not delete these users. More users can be added by using "Menu->Parameters->Users".
After the creation of a server or a client the user logs in with a user name and password.
Here from Northwind.mdb for the Employees table the form that automaticaly created has the ability to modify the table records.
Here from Northwind.mdb for the Categories table a searchable browser has been created (with variable row height).
The Remote SQL Executor executes, saves and loads any kind of SQL querie. The views can be send to a browser or a report.
